Even the toughest stains are no match for our unique carpet cleaning method. And in between our visits, here are some pro tips for treating the most common carpet stains.
#1 – Blood
Act quickly by rinsing the stain with cold water. Next, try either a store-bought solution like Oxi-clean or make your own using a couple of tablespoons of dish soap mixed in cold water.
#2 – Ink
Gently dab a cloth in isopropyl alcohol, then blot the stain. Fingernail polish remover may also work well. Just be sure to test a small area of your carpet first to be sure it doesn’t discolor the fibers.
#3 – Pet Stains And Odors
Pick up and/or blot as much of the mess away as you can. If you buy a store-bought solution, make sure it contains ammonia and specifically states it’s safe for pets. You can also make your own cleaner using warm water and vinegar followed by sprinkling baking soda over the stain. To keep pet stains and odors away for good, schedule a professional treatment with Chem-Dry at least once a year.
#4 – Water Soluble Stains
For wine, chocolate, or vomit, try using a DIY cleaning solution containing 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of ammonia or 5 parts water to 1 part chlorine bleach. Test a small area first, and use only a gentle soap and warm water on wool carpet.
#5 – Oil, Fat, Wax, Or Gum
Place ice over wax or gum to freeze it, then chip it away using scissors or a knife. For fat, oil, or certain waxes, lay a paper towel over the stain then iron over it to transfer the stain and remove it for good.
#6 – Glue
Use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball to break down glue stains.
#7 – Coffee
After absorbing as much of the stain as possible, treat it using a solution made of 1 ¼ cups of water and ¼ cup of bleach. If this doesn’t do the trick, schedule an appointment for carpet cleaning in League City.
#8 – Washable Ink Or Latex Paint
A homemade cleaning solution of ¼ teaspoon white vinegar in about 32 ounces of water works well on washable ink or paint.
#9 – Food, Alcoholic Drinks, Dyles, And Cola
Try your own vinegar/water cleaning solution or use one like Oxi-Clean.
